Throughout the novel “Soldier X” there are many important quotes. One main quote is “I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell out the truth. But I couldn’t… -X (Erik). This is important because it shows what kind of a character Erik is, which is an honest one. Another quote that I think was important to the novel is “Your most important weapon is your brain—your mind power…Do not lose control…[or] you will be dead.”- Dolbermann. This is significant to the novel because it tells that your weapons aren’t what win you wars its your strong mental state that does. The quote “What’s wrong with my legs? I was sure they were getting better!”- Nikolai is also important to the novel. This is because it shows the tragedy of war. It does this by, how he thought he was getting better but it only got worst, which is also the thoughts people get about war ending. Another meaningful quote to the novel is “I hope they are criminals…Because if they are not, then we are.”- Oskar. This is because it shows the mental training of soldiers. This quote shows this because soldiers in war are train to think that enemy soldiers are criminals. Finally, the last quote I think is crucial to the novel is “If victory is death…then we have won.”-X(Erik). This is because it shows the only way to win is to suffer yourself and if you didn’t almost die then you didn’t win.
Book Review
After going through emotions with this book I would recommend it to my friends, family, and others. This is because if you like adventure, history and a thriller this is the book for you. This is the book for you because the main character goes through a lot just to find a way home. The main character goes through a lot because he goes to war, then is trapped behind enemy lines and travels for days, weeks, and maybe even months through the forest and towns to try to get home. If you are interested in history then you should read this book because you learn about the tragedy of World War Two. This is because the main character is actually apart of the Nazi army and throughout the novel he speaks of what he was taught about in his training. Another reason I recommend this novel is because it is educational about WWII. This is because it takes place during WWII and speaks about events of WWII. Finally, I recommend this novel because it is thrilling. This is because from the beginning to the end of the novel there is violence and tragedy and it makes you just want to read to the very end. Also if you like romance there is a little between two main characters that stick together after they meet.
